Contents of the Course
Turkish Foreign Policy (TFP) may be started by the last century of Ottomans. Especially since the term of Abdulhamid II (1876-1909) Turkish Foreign Policy?s main stream approach has been based on balance policy among big powers. There are strong arguments that TFP approach which was structured by Abdulhamid II prolonged Ottoman State?s life. The Party of Union and Progress (UPP) (1909-1918) term was the era main stream balanced TFP approach faced with a radical shift nevertheless during and after Turkish National Struggle TFP again turned on its traditional route. During Republican era, with the exceptions, annexation of Hatay province and 1st , 2nd Cyprus Operations (July-August 1974) TFP has preserved its traditional line. Post-Ottoman Turkish Republic period, faced with some difficulties during its transformation from empire to a pivotal state and TFP inevitably negatively affected by that process. That is why, TFP was/is not a story of success during the last century of Ottomans and Rebublic era. TFP has been trying to track on its line together with its disabilities, vulnerabilities and shortages, difficulties put forward by historical background (relations with Middle East and Balkan countries) and advantages (all around the world almost everywhere there is Turkish steps). When the year of 2015 arrived it is easily said that all those advantages and disadvantages are on the table.
