Second goal is to make sure that students can make sense of the major determinants of Turkish foreign policy and prepare themselves for future comparative cases and case studies as students of international relations. |

| This course is the first part of a two semester course surveying the history of Turkish foreign policy. This semester starts with the influence of the Ottoman Empire on the foreign policymaking of modern Turkey and covers the period until 1980s. |
