The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to introduce matter and provide information about measurement methods, atomic structure and periodic table, chemical bonds, chemical formulas and types of chemical reactions, chemical equations and calculations, and states of matter.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Knows the properties of matter, the concepts and differences of pure substance, element, compound and mixture, and separates mixtures into their components.12 - 141,
LO - 2 : Explain the structure of the atom using different atomic theories.12 - 141,
LO - 3 : Knows and exemplifies energy levels, quantum numbers, and the placement of electrons in orbitals in an atom.12 - 141,
LO - 4 : Knows the general properties of the periodic table, atomic volume, ionization energies, electron affinity, and electronegativity definitions.12 - 141,
LO - 5 : Chemical bonds: know and give examples of ionic bonds, covalent bonds, metallic bonds, Lewis structures and the octet rule.12 - 141,
LO - 6 : Chemical formulas and types of chemical reactions: write and name compounds, write simple and molecular formulas and analyze the bonding structure of the given compound.12 - 141,
LO - 7 : Know and apply types of chemical reactions, writing chemical reactions, and balancing reactions.12 - 141,
LO - 8 : Solve problems related to stoichiometry, chemical calculations, limiting reagents, and reaction efficiency.12 - 141,

Contents of the Course
Matter: elements, pictures, mixtures, separation of mixtures and pictures, material laws; structure of the atom and the periodic table: lighting properties, atomic theory and atomic models, energy levels in the atom, quantum quality, electrons are arranged according to their orbits, general properties of the periodic table, atomic volume, ionization energies, electron affinity, electronegativity; chemical bonds: ionic bonds, covalent bonds, metallic bonds, lewis structures and octet rule; chemical formulas and types of chemical reactions: writing and naming examples, simple and molecular formulas, types of chemical reactions, writing chemical reactions, balancing reactions; stoichiometry; chemical programming, limiting reagent, reaction efficiency
