The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to give information to the students about transformation of physical structure and land use pattern in the historical perspective. Land use differentiation and requirements as a result of the population growth and employment pattern of social life in modern era, and how they relate to historical, social, economic and technological context will be examined related with local, regional and global basic improvements

Contents of the Course
Social development and transformation of urban physical form; structural differences between settlements; Land use decisions and requirements in different scale, different population and employment structure; Settlements systems and hierarchy; Urban development form, land use form and density; Land use principles, techniques, norms and distribution of the different type of land use such as residential, commercial, industrial, recreational areas etc. ; Land use Economy; Analysis of built area in the dimension of definition of space requirements for different land uses; Discussion in location criteria of urban land uses, land use quality and pattern in a chosen area.
