Objectives of the Programme :
Urban and Regional Planning Master's and PhD Programs with Thesis aim to improve the knowledge and skills of the people who will work in the field of urban and regional planning; to train individuals who are experts in their fields; to train academicians to take part in the academic field; aims to contribute to academic experience with scientific research and studies.
 
Outcomes of the Programme :
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to :
OP-1 : Analytical: To make necessary quantitative and qualitative analysis in spatial research and planning activities and to examine existing analytical studies.
OP-2 : Critical: To identify and problematize the dynamic relationship between space-society, social and spatial problems, to inquire and develop existing explanations.
OP-3 : Theoretical: To comprehend, criticize and develop the theoretical links and relationships between spatial planning theories, sociology and political sciences.
OP-4 : Aesthetics: To use and apply spatial quality criteria, evaluation criteria, measurement tools and techniques, to adapt and develop them under new conditions.
OP-5 : Legal: To follow and comprehend the legislation on city and regional administrations, especially planning legislation, and to have a sufficient level of information about legislation for new proposals.
OP-6 : Professional: To recognize the study areas, boundaries, relationships and collaborations of city planning and other related professional disciplines.
OP-7 : Practical: To know and apply past and current city planning techniques of various scales and types, presentation techniques of development plans and urban design projects; to adapt and improve this knowledge under different circumstances.
OP-8 : Technological: To use computer aided spatial analysis especially geographic information systems, planning and design programs; to read and develop software.
OP-9 : Administrative: To determine the institutional and individual authorities, responsibilities, duties, needs and demands of international institutions, central governments, local governments, non-governmental organizations, local communities, urban individuals and disadvantaged groups; to manage social negotiation processes
OP-10 : Academic: To transfer the information by meeting the requirements the seminar, presentation, reporting, thesis research and other course requirements within the scope of the program; to make discussions in accordance with the academic procedures.
OP-11 : Philosophical: To comprehend the philosophical depth of the discipline of urbanism and the intellectual relation between space and society.
OP-12 : Social: To have the sensitivity to carry out planning activities that respect the existence of urban and rural human communities and plant and animal communities that make up natural life.
OP-13 : Individual: To contribute to their intellectual development, which will deepen their previous knowledge, experience and tendencies in the field of urbanism.
OP-14 : Ethics: To produce independent decisions with scientific and legal qualifications by considering the public interest, which is the main guiding mechanism of planning.
OP-15 : Communicative: To express oneself effectively with written, verbal and graphic tools in professional level; to develop the ability to communicate.
OP-16 : Abstraction: To gain the ability to define problems, develop clear questions in scientific studies, to use abstract ideas; to evaluate different views and reach well-questioned results and test them with similar criteria and standards.
