| The objectives of this programme are: to foster scholarship and research in Linguistics, English Language Studies, English and American Literary and Cultural Studies, History of England and America and History of the English Language, and to provide students with critical understanding of lingisitic and literary movements, theses, philosophies and traditions. |

| Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to : |
| OP-1 : | have a broad information of the English and American Literature in general |

| OP-2 : | specialize in one of these literary genres like poetry, drama, short story and novel |

| OP-3 : | develop a critical approach to literature |
|
| OP-4 : | combine scientific and professional ethics with a cultural and literary sensivity |

| OP-5 : | explore various approaches to literary, cultural and linguistic studies |

| OP-6 : | learn the principles of conduction a reserach study in social sciences, literature and culture |

| OP-7 : | obtain the required knowledeg to interpret, perceive different cultures and to communicate withe the members of these cultures |
