| Objectives of the Programme : |

| The Department of Journalism aims to provide qualified personnel to the sector besides making scientific researches. As a discipline of communication, Journalism involves all kinds of communications between reporter, editor and reader. Students of the program will have a vision of writing news, following agenda, making researches in various areas of journalism such as economoy, politics or sport, providing coordination between other journalists, developing strategies for preparing headings and headlines, creating a healthy communication with readers, analyzing news according to their contents and styles. Program also aims to provide students necessary analytic tools for processes about visual and written communication and to examine subjects such as popular culture or mass culture. |

| Learning Outcomes of the Programme : |

| Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to : |
| OP-1 : | Students will obtain knowledge and understanding of the role and application of other disciplines of social sciences related with the area on journalism. |
|
| OP-2 : | Students will obtain knowledge and understanding of the properties and structure of the area that they work in by learning basic concepts and theories of communication. |
|
| OP-3 : | Students will have necessary equipment for specializing in different areas of journalism such as investigative journalism, agency journalism, internet journalism, sports journalism etc. |
|
| OP-4 : | Students will have necessary information about all levels in preparing and presenting news and will obtain knowledge and understanding of differences in forms and contents between newspaper journalism, radio journalism and television journalism. |

| OP-5 : | 12. Students will be able to present material in a format appropriate to the assignment set (essay, case study, literature review, real-life project, dissertation etc.). |

| OP-6 : | Students will have information about political systems and thoughts and so will be able to evaluate political and social structure of Turkey. |

| OP-7 : | Students will be able to think systemically, in the framework of an interdisciplinary and holistic approach. |

| OP-15 : | Students will be able to develop appropriate IT skills that will make them computer-literate, capable of using information technology in practice, e.g. web and internet, intranets, spreadsheets, word processing, power-point presentations, electronic databases, etc. |
