Objectives of the Programme : |

The objective of the program is to provide students with a thorough background in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and to produce oral and maxillofacial surgeons with as broad an educational base as possible and with wide clinical experience. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery postgraduate program is designed to prepare a surgeon for a career in surgery , research and teaching. The overall goal is to educate dentists to become competent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons dentists who will serve the public and the profession at a high level of excellence. |

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to : |
OP-1 : | Broad knowledge of oral pathological conditions | |
OP-2 : | Sound knowledge and critical systematic understanding of those oral pathological conditions that commonly require diagnosis by diagnostic tools | |
OP-3 : | Critical awareness of current problems in oral pathologic lesions | |
OP-4 : | Broad knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning effective teaching and learning | |
OP-5 : | Broad knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning the presentation of material at scientific meetings and for publication | |
OP-6 : | A high level of competence and sound judgement in the practical clinical diagnosis of common and significant oral pathological lesions and conditions | |
OP-7 : | Skills in acquiring, using and critically evaluating evidence and information about conditions encountered in the subject area of oral lesions | |
OP-8 : | Competence in preparing information suitable for presentation to their peers at a scientific meeting and for submission to a scientific journal | |
OP-9 : | Determine appropriate imaging examinations, based on clinical examination and interpretation of medical and dental history | |
OP-10 : | Utilize conventional and advanced imaging modalities in the oral and maxillofacial region. | |
OP-11 : | Conduct research related to oral and maxillofacial radiology | |
OP-12 : | Teach physical and biological principles of radiology as relates to dentistry | |
OP-13 : | Serve as consultant to medicine and dentistry concerning issues related to oral and maxillofacial radiology | |
OP-14 : | Assess radiation safety and protection in the dental practice environment | |
OP-15 : | Make and interpret images of the oral and maxillofacial region and produce written interpretive reports. | |
OP-16 : | Broad knowledge and conceptual understanding of anatomic structures and their functions in maxillofacial regions | |
OP-17 : | Broad knowledge and conceptual understanding of dental approach in patients with sistemic diseases and oral manifestations of sistemic diseases | |
OP-18 : | Have an understanding of the role of genetic factors in health and disease | |
