The aim of the course:
To expalin microsturucal properties of structural ceramics. To learn the effective parameters on its physical and chemical properties. To explain advanced production methods.

Contents of the Course
Introduction to structural ceramics and their applications Oxide ceramics Structure and properties of Alumina Structure and properties of Zirconia. Partially stabilize zirconia (PSZ). Transformation toughening. Carbides (SiC, TiC, B4C, WC) Structure and properties of nitrate and oxy-nitrate based ceramics (Si3N4, BN, SiAlON). Structure-property relationship, fracture toughness and creep properties. Abrasive wear properties of structural ceramics. Fracture and toughness properties of structural ceramics. Design criteria of structural ceramics and Weibull analysis.
