The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to provide information to students about equipment used in underground and surface mining operations.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : have an appreciation of the types of equipment used in surface and underground mines and quarries, and its properties.3,5,111,
LO - 2 : discuss options for improving equipment performance/productivity and explain the factors critical to selecting mining equipment.3,5,111,
LO - 3 : have an ability to select and calculate equipment size and cost implications required for mining applications.3,5,111,

Mining equipment and their technology, classification of surface and underground equipment, typical units, basic machine operations, applications, general characteristics, operational practices, design features, new developments, machine specifications, haulage systems.
