The aim of the course:
Mineral and coal processing plants produce a large amount of tailings. The course was intended to introduce the type and characterisation of plant tailings, their discharge practices, environmental effects and regulations, treatment and recycling.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : identify the type and characterisation of mineral processing tailings 8,111,3,
LO - 2 : describe the environmental effects of tailings8,111,3,
LO - 3 : evaluate recovery and recycling technologies for metals and compounds from tailings8,111,3,
LO - 4 : summarize the industrial use of plant tailing8,111,3,
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
