The aim of the course:
Central management and local administration concept, the local government concept, history of local government in Turkey, municipalities, special provincial administrations, village administrations, the state-local government relations, urbanization and metropolitan management, are issues reorganization of local government. Causes of existence of local administrations; local administrations and economy; distribution of services and resources between local government and central administrations; metropolitan area management; local government in practice.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : To be able to define the basic concepts related to local governments, to be able to count the local administration units.21,3
LO - 2 : To be able to summarize the difference between local and central administration units with the help of figures and graphs.2,81,3
LO - 3 : To be able to use the basic concepts in a case to point out, as a chair of a local government unit, to show how relations with central government units will be in case.3,111
LO - 4 : Possible problems that local governments might encounter, for example natural disasters.2,51,3
LO - 5 : To be able to rearrange the relations between local administrations and central government taking into account changing conditions.1,3
