The aim of the course:
To introduce the region, related concepts, and approaches in regional planning in a comparative manner, and with a general perspective, to inform about the theories and techniques in the process of regional planning which has an important role and function in the planning hierarchy.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Comprehend the theories of region, and learn how to determine the regional boundaries and how to make a hierarchy of settlements.1,5,8,121,

Contents of the Course
Concept of region, its changing meaning and principles in its determination. The importance of regional planning in spatial planning process and sustainable development. Regionalization, settlement hierarchy and comparison of different examples of regional planning. Basic regional theories and theories of regional growth and development. The general context of regional analysis techniques and examples.
