Through teaching the foundations and the evolution of Turkish economic history the students are expected to gain and improve their ability and capability to understand and interpret the major socio-economic and socio-cultural that have shaped today's Turkiye's demographic and urban structure. |

A general analysis of Turkish economic history from social and cultural aspects; an investigation of Turkish socioeconomic structure in the frameworks of capitalism, mercantilism, core-periphery relations and regional disparities in the context of broader world history; a historical (re)evaluation of the social, economic and cultural factors that have shaped the current demographic and urban structure of Turkiye; the concepts of economic growth versus economic development, human development index. |
