The aim of the course:
Yhis course aims at introducing the social, political, religious, literary backgrounds of Renaissance. It also aims to teach the significant literary works of the period as well as the important literary figures by making specific references to the above mentioned backgrounds.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Learn about The Reform and The Renaissance movements.
LO - 2 : See the effects of Renaissance on British culture, lifestyle and literature in a detailed way.
LO - 3 : Get information on the literary figures as well as the literary works of the period.
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
This course will focus on some of the major writers of the English Renaissance (1500 - 1660), seen in their cultural context.
