The aim of the course:
To learn the interaction of tourism and protection with natural and man-made environment and the impacts of recreation on the environment. To educate tourism and outdoor recreation students on the development and marketing of natural, cultural, historical, and archeological resources.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : learn the basic concepts related to tourism and ecological environment values 1,3,4,5,6,71
PO - 2 : analyse the new methodological approach and strategies for the application of ecotourism 3,4,5,63
PO - 3 : learn how cultural environmental values that constitute it could be used in the nature environmentally based development of tourism studies 1,3,4,5,61
PO - 4 : with the projects and applications they carry out in the course, learn the creation of an environmentally friendly nature tourism approach in the use of natural resources in our country 2,4,55
PO - 5 : discuss the conflict between conservation policies and tourism planning in Turkey. In addition, students will be involved in discussion of the role of Partnership4,5,6,76

Contents of the Course
General definitions of nature, nature conservation, ecology and tourism, their similarities and differences. Importance of Nature Conservation. Importance of Species and Habitat Protection. Ecological environment values of protected areas and natural areas. Biological diversity in Turkey and historical background of nature conservation. Reasons for nature conservation-classification of protected areas. Conditions for tourism to develop based on the environment. Strategies for the application of ecotourism: sustainable-environment approach, community participation approach and flexible feedback approach. The discussion of the role of ecological tourism in social and economical development.
