The aim of the course:
to teach the general properties of enzyme catalysis mechanisms and to examine their role in metabolism and regulation

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : understands basic level of theoretical knowledge about enzymes.
LO - 2 : categorize enzymes.
LO - 3 : describe the clinical and physiological properties of the enzymes used in clinical diagnosis .
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
The structure and properties of enzymes , nomenclature and classification of enzymes , enzyme kinetics, activators , inhibitors, enzyme inhibition, allosteric enzymes, isoenzymes , factors affecting enzyme activity, the use of enzymes, enzyme activity assay methods, blood levels of the enzyme and detection methods
