The aim of the course:
Evaluation of masonry structures and their behaviour, types of damage and causes of damage in masonry structures, repair and strengthening of masonry structures.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Find out the behaviour of masonry structures under horizontal and vertical loads.91,3,5,
LO - 2 : They will learn the types of damage in masonry structures, the mechanisms of damage and the tools and equipment required for damage assessment.91,3,5,
LO - 3 : Gain the necessary cognitive and practical knowledge for the methods used in the repair and recovery of damages in masonry structures.1,3,5,
LO - 4 : It will gain awareness on how innovative applications can be made by making use of existing examples.91,3,5,

Contents of the Course
Definition of masonry structures, building materials and structural system elements. Irregularity in masonry structures and their behaviour under loads, damages in masonry structures, causes of damage and determination of damage. Reinforcement methods in masonry structures, analysis of sample applications, considerations in masonry construction and related regulations.
