The aim of the course:
Mankind produce structures that meet the needs with the own material, technology and facilities of every period from prehistory to the present day. In this process, all of the structures and arrangements have not been performed by architects. Environment where products are made without architects and are the results of art of building that living and maintaining it around. This type of architecture is defined by name Vernacular Architecture. In this course, it is aimed to deal with vernacular architecture and to examine it through the examples of global and local scale.

Contents of the Course
Vernacular architecture and its concepts, definitions and development process; the content and features (determiner and organizer); examples of vernacular architecture on a global scale (Egypt, Iran, Japan, Italy, Spain, Mexico etc.); examples of vernacular architecture in Turkey scale (in the context of regions and provinces) evaluation, comparison and discussion; position and status of vernacular architecture today
