The aim of the course:
Objective of this course is to provide basic information about imergence and development process of near-term political thinking.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : analyze the contribution of the emergence of liberal thought to individual freedoms1
LO - 2 : interpret the relations between political thoughts and revolutions
LO - 3 : examine the conditions which give rise to totalitarian ideas.
LO - 4 : understand the dangers which domcracies may face with.
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
Political concepts; Political thoughts; Political theories; Political movements; Political ideologies. Development of political thought after 18th century. Montesquieu and J.J. Rousseau's views, the French Revolution and its impact to political thought, emergence of ideas wich react liberalism. Babeuf, Fichte and Hegel's ideas, emergence of contemporary totalitarian thought and its effects, Fascism, Marxism and National Socialism, Anarchism, Syndicalism and Leninism and it effects.
