Introduction to volcanology, Main structural, mineralogical and chemical properties of the Earth, Physico-chemical properties, formation and types of magma, Plate tectonics and volcanism relations, Physical and dynamic volcanism, Volcanic structures; polygenetic and monogenetic volcanoes, calderas, Volcanic activities according to explosion dynamics and types, Volcanic products; lava products, pyroclastic deposits and types of gases. Sample volcanoes from the world; Mt. St. Helen (America), Yellowstone (America), Mt. Vesuvius (Italy), Krakatoa (Indonesia), Hawaii volcanic region (the Pacific Ocean), major volcanoes of Turkey; Mt. Ararat, Mt. Hasandağı, Mt. Erciyes, Mt. Suphan, Mt. Nemrut, Mt. Tendürek, Cappadocia (Nevşehir, C-Turkey) and Kula (Manisa, W Turkey) volcanic regions. Semester student presentations. |
