The aim of the course:
The course aims to provide the geology students with opportunities to apply the information they collect during their studies in the previous years, to help them learn how to construct geological cross sections and profiles in the field, and aquant them with various mineral deposits in the region and show them the role of a geologist in various engineering applications and mineral deposits.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Apply the information they have been learned during their studies in the previous years.5,71,4,
LO - 2 : Construct geological cross sections and profiles.5,71,4,
LO - 3 : Solve geological problems.5,71,4,
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

Contents of the Course
The students will be confronted with all geological aspects of the area to be visited: structural framework, tectonical style, stratigraphical succession, sedimentological characteristics, mineralogical-petrographical characteristics, etc, of rocks are discussed and exemplified in the field. Students are taken to araes covered by metamorphic, magmatic and sedimentary rocks, namely the Kırıklı area in Gümüşhane, Mescitli in Gümüşhane, Zigana and Maçka areas in Trabzon. Various volcanic facies and textures are shown to the students in the Yoroz area (Trabzon) . Cretaceous to Eocene boundary is traced in the Tonya region.
