The aim of the course:
To provide knowledge of the basic principles of IMO's approach to the Human Element in the maritime field. To provide a broad overview of the relevant IMO and ILO instruments, including the MLC 2006, relating to maritime labour and welfare, and in particular the rights and expectations of seafarers in relation to occupational safety and health. To impart knowledge and understanding of mandates assigned to maritime administrations with particular reference to crew supply, manning and certification of seafarers. To introduce obligations related to maritime security and piracy at sea. To study implications of maritime human factors in the context of maritime safety and risk management including the ISM Code.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : Explain and explain the place and importance of human element in maritime
PO - 2 : Explain the necessity of management and leadership ability in the maritime profession which is totally interwoven with human element
PO - 3 : Leadership in team management knows and applies the importance of business planning, assignment, assignment, communication.
PO - 4 : Control ship operations and can help manage ship operations by using leadership and managerial skills to approach the ship's management at management level.
