The aim of the course:
The aim of this course is to raise awareness of students about the latest developments in gene and protein engineering and current techniques. This approach also targets to contribute to the knowledge and development of students on agriculture, biotechnology, food&feed, health and medicine by unraveling the current practices and potentials.

Contents of the Course
This course will cover topics such as introduction to recombinant DNA technologies, prokaryotic and eukaryotic gene structures, isolation and electrophoresis of nucleic acids and proteins, Modern PCR applications, Design of recombinant gene expression cassettes (vectors and hosts), Different transformation techniques in homologus and heterologous gene expression, Protein folding and 3 dimensional structure modeling , Bioinformatics and modern approaches in protein engineering, techniques for determining protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions, CRISPR in gene engineering, VIGS and RNAi mechanisms and gene therapy applications.
