The aim of the course:
Gaining basic concepts about design of various engine elements, engine systems, and engine construction.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : remember knowledge about preliminary design and thermal calculations of engines. 1,31,3
LO - 2 : design piston, connecting rod, crank shaft, block, cylinder head, valves and valve gear of the engines. 1,31,3
LO - 3 : learn design principles of fuel systems, ignition systems, cooling and lubrication systems, and supercharging systems. 1,31,3
LO - 4 : introduce various engine constructions, learn environmental impacts of engines. 1,31,3

Contents of the Course
Determination of the main dimensions of engines. Thermal calculations of engines. Kinematics and dynamics of engines. Design of piston, connecting rod, crank shaft, block, cylinder head, valves and valve gear, fuel and ignition systems, lubrication and cooling systems of engines. Methods and systems of supercharging. Examples of engine constructions.
