The aim of the course:
To teach basic principles and knowledge of melting, casting, welding, metal forming and metal machining methods and to gain design capability by making practices in laboratory or homeworks/term projects for better understanding the knowledge obtained in theoretical course.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : learn the casting methods, make mold and cast model and to gain knowladge about control and analyze of casting parts 1,31,
LO - 2 : learn the common welding processes, evaluate the metallurgical aspects of welding and analyze of welding parts1,31,
LO - 3 : gain knowlegde and information on the welding devices and electrodes, and the methods used to prevent the welding defects1,31,
LO - 4 : gain knowledge abot the main prenciples of brazing and adhesive bonding 1,31,
LO - 5 : learn fundamentals of plastic forming, gain knowledge about bulk and sheet metal forming processes and make parts and die design1,31,
LO - 6 : learn the teories, methods of metal machining and machining tools1,31,

Contents of the Course
Fundamentals of metal castings and metal casting processes. Fundamentals of welding and main welding processes. Soldering and adhesive bonding. Fundamentals of metal forming. Bulk and sheet metal forming processes. Prenciples of metal machining, machining operation and machining tools. Nontraditional machining and thermal cutting processes.

 Week 10Bulk Deformation Processes in Metal Working: Rolling, Forging, Extrusion, Wire and Bar Drawing.
 Week 11Sheet Metal Working: Cutting, Bending, Drawing, Other sheet metal forming operation
 Week 12Theory of Metal Machining: Theory of chip formation, Force relationship.
 Week 13Machining operation and machine tools: Turning, Drilling, Milling, The other machining operation.
 Week 14Cutting Tool Technology: Tool life, materials, tool geometry and cutting fluids. Grinding and other abrasive processes. Nontraditional machining and thermal cutting processes.
