The aim of the course:
Gaining basics concepts about motor vehicles, vehicle dynamics, and vehicle performance.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : introduce to motor vehicles and their general design. 1,31,3
LO - 2 : determine forces acting on motor vehicle, and to obtain and solve vehicle motion differential equation. 1,31,3
LO - 3 : introduce to transmission systems in vehicles, determine gear ratios. 1,31,3
LO - 4 : solve analytically and theoretically engine motion differential equation. 1,31,3
LO - 5 : determine theoretically and experimentally fuel consumption of motor vehicles. 1,31,3
LO - 6 : gain detailed knowledge about economical end effective driving of motor vehicles. 1,31,3

Contents of the Course
General design of motor vehicles. Forces acting on a motor vehicle (resistance forces and traction force) . Traction characteristics of a motor vehicle. Engine characteristics and gear ratios. Equation of motion of a motor vehicle and its graphical, analytical, and numerical solution methods. Fuel consumption of a motor vehicle. Effects of design and operating factors on fuel economy of a motor vehicle
