The aim of the course:
are to provide the ability needed for machine design, forming important machine elements constitute the machines, teaching the strength of machine elements and their functions. Several projects related to these subjects are given through this course.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : calculate and choose clutches1,3
LO - 2 : gain optimum design talent, considering the tribological events during running of machine elements. 1,3
LO - 3 : bear the shafts by means of rolling elements and sliding bearings and their designation. 1,3
LO - 4 : design the belt used in power transmission.1,3
LO - 5 : design the gear used in power transmission.1,3
LO - 6 : design a mechanical system at realistic constraints and conditions.1,3

Contents of the Course
Design of couplings, clutches and brakes. Thoeries of friction, wear and lubrication. Tribology. Design of sliding and rolling bearings. Design of gears. Design of belt mechanisms.
