The aim of the course:
To teach basic knowledge of materials science which contains atomic and crystal structure, deformation of metals, constitution of alloys, equilibrium diagrams and phase transformations, heat treatments of steels and corrosion of metals.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : learn the atomic and crystallographic structures of the materials and also the crystall imperfections1,21,
LO - 2 : understand the plastic deformation of materials1,21,
LO - 3 : learn the constitution of alloys and their design1,21,
LO - 4 : learn the phase diagrams and interpret the alloy microstructures1,21,
LO - 5 : learn the heat treatments applied to the steels, and select the suitable treatment methods for a specific steels. 1,21,
LO - 6 : learn how the corrosion takes place in metals and how it can be prevented1,21,
