The aim of the course:
It is aimed that these students learn the bioinformatics discipline. It is the aim of this course to introduce current bioinformatics methods and tools that can be used for analyzing the data obtained, to introduce the database of biological data and other biological information sources, to access the data in these sources, and to teach the basic principles underlying these methods.

Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : To have knowledge about definition, scope and history of bioinformatics field51,
LO - 2 : They can have information about various biological databases and can access the biological data by scanning these databases.51,4,
LO - 3 : They can recognize binary and multiple sequence alignment algorithms and score matrices.51,4,
LO - 4 : They can do similarity scores and interpret the results51,3,4,
LO - 5 : They can design their own primers in line with their requirements51,4,
LO - 6 : They can make restriction analyzes51,4,
LO - 7 : They can identify and search primary and secondary protein databases (protein sequence, domain / family and structure databases)51,4,
LO - 8 : They can determine the physico-chemical properties and post-translational modifications of proteins51,4,
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome
