The aim of the course:
To enable students to distinguish the differences between traditional and modern biotechnology, to contribute to their learning of the fields that biotechnology serves. To contribute to their awareness about the relations between biotechnology and bioeconomy. To make them aware of different types of biotechnology and its applications. To help them understand the importance and potential of biotechnology in the 21st century scientific world and to encourage them to develop an investigative understanding in the biotechnological fields of interest.

Contents of the Course
The definition of biotechnology and the comparative evaluation of different types of biotechnology are evaluated by considering biotechnological applications, trends and current developments in various industries in a general framework. Applications made in connection with biotechnological advances in health, food, agriculture, marine and bioinformatics and nanotechnology are discussed and evaluated in detail within the scope of the course.
