The aim of the course:
The course aims to provide the students with a general knowledge on environmental perception and cognition, to enable them to understand the definition of space and its elements, to help them use their knowledge to understand the urban and rural open spaces, their formation, special elements and usage evaluations, to teach them how to search for problems of urban and rural open spaces, new construction theories about preferable environment

Contents of the Course
Definition of space and its elements. Concept of spatial barrier. Environmental perception and cognition. Concept of image schemata and mapping. Types of sketch map. Activity/place appropriateness. Places and judgments of people, environmental interactions. The development of conceptual systems. Development of the recognition of places. Evaluating places. Producing places. The role design and designers.
