The aim of the course:
Introduction to mechanical properties of wood, standard methods for determining of wood properties, determining the using places for wood according to mechanical properties.

Contents of the Course
Effects of annual ring structure on strength properties of wood. Relations between strength properties of wood and age of trees. Elasticity properties of wood. Strength properties of wood. Compression, statical and dynamical bending. Tensile, splitting and shear strength properties of wood. Hardness test. Effect of fiber direction. Temperature, moisture content, specific gravity. Loading direction on strength properties of wood. Effect of strength properties on wood in use.
