The aim of the course:
To enable pre-service teachers to effectively use information technologies both in their field and in daily life.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Defines basic terminology related to information technologies1
LO - 2 : Explains the working principle and the logic of operating system of computers1
LO - 3 : Creates flow diagrams for basic problems1
LO - 4 : Expresses the basic features of the operating system and personalizes the system1
LO - 5 : Uses word processor, spreadsheet, presentation and database programs in a way that is relevant to the purpose of their use1
LO - 6 : Considers the ethical issues when using the sources accessed through the internet1
LO - 7 : Uses information technologies effectively in his/her field1
LO - 8 : Evaluates the effect of information technologies on individuals1

Contents of the Course
Information technologies and computational thinking; problem solving concepts and approaches; algorithm and flow diagrams; computer systems; basic concepts related to software and hardware; basics of operating systems; recent operating systems; file management; utility software (third party utilities); word processing software; spreadsheet software; presentation software; desktop publishing; database management system; web design; use of the internet in education; communication and cooperation technologies; safe internet use; informatics ethics and copyright law; the effects of computers and internet on children/the young.
