FOUNDATION & HISTORY  
Karadeniz Technical University ,Fatih Education Faculty ,Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies was founded in 1998 related with the programme of reconstructing Education Faculties. Aim of Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies is to develop teachers for schools to teach computer and instructional Technologies.

1 - To have high school diploma, 2 - To be successful and get enough grade at OSS exam ( Student Selection Exam)
OBJECTIVE of THE PROGRAMME  
Computer Education and Instructional Technologies have a 4 year education with new approaches at teacher education and education. Aim of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies department is to develop teachers with following current technologies about instructional technologies, and applying them to learning environment, using different type of assessments methods, arranging teaching activities, using different learning methods and strategies to education, supporting other teachers using computer and instructional technologies. Graduates also work at the areas of Web Based Education Expert, Academician at universities, Designer of Graphics and Multimedia and Network Systems Expert.
RECOGNATION of PRIOR LEARNING  
The "Directive on Recognition of Prior Learning", Senate Decision No. 340 issued on July 28, 2023, has been accepted and entered into force regarding the students registered in all programs of Karadeniz Technical University to determine the principles to be followed for the recognition, crediting, and adaptation of the achievements acquired by the students at non-university institutions.

In this Directive,

- recognition of knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired with special interest through an exemption exam to be substituted as program courses,
- recognition of workplace and internship experiences through portfolio evaluation to be substituted as program courses,
- and the crediting of certificates received from accredited institutions regarding students' special interests are covered.

Announcements of courses included in the scope of recognition of prior learning, applications, and evaluation will be made on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Recognition of prior learning will offer numerous benefits to our students and employers. For our students, increasing professional development and mobility in the labour market, preventing repetition of education and waste of time, providing early graduation, reducing the cost of learning, encouraging learning, and increasing the student's motivation and self-confidence can be counted among the benefits of recognition of prior learning. From the employers' perspectives, it will contribute to satisfying skill or competence deficiencies in the workplace, reducing the time employees spend outside the workplace for training purposes, and thus using resources more efficiently.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS and REGULATIONS  
To be able to secure the bachelor's degree in the field of Computer Education and Instructional Technology the students are required to
(a) have passed all courses in the curiculum with a grade of at least DC form the,
(b) have achieved a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00,
(c) completed the compulsory school prcatice.
EXAMINATION, ASSESSMENT and GRADING REGULATIONS  
Every term, students are subjected to various mid-term studies (mid-term exams, presentation, project, seminars, quizzes, assignment, laboratory practices, etc.,) and end-of-term examinations. The contribution of both mid-term and end-of-term examinations to overall score is 50%. Marks are assigned out of 100 points. In order to attend to the end-of-term examination of a course, students must attend at least 70% of its theoretical part and if there are practical and/or laboratory sessions, they must attend 80% of them. It is required to obtain 40 out of 100 points from end-of-term examination of a course regardless of its midterm examination mark. In calculating the end-of-term mark, if a class size is more than 10, ?Norm-Referenced Assessment System? is employed, whereas if a class size is less than 10, ?Criterion-Referenced Assessment System? is employed. ?Students are regarded as successful if they get any of such scores as AA, BA, BB, BC or CC. In the case of having DC, which is a conditional mark, students can pass the course as long as they have a CGPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0 for that term. Students having the marks from DD to FF fail. Students can take make-up examinations from all courses that they have failed at the end of the each term as long as these courses are belong to that term. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS  
Students who are successful from all lessons (totally 240 ETCS) and having 2.00 (from 0-4 level) average and above from all lessons get undergraduate diploma at the field of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES of GRADUATES  
Graduates from of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies department can work at private and special schools at Ministry of Education as teacher, technology consultant, exam assessment expert. Graduates are also work universities at related programmes. Graduates can work these areas: Information System Manager, Education Consultant, Instructional Technology Expert, Academician at Information Technology and Education field, Multimedia and Graphics Designer
ACCESS to FURTHER STUDIES  
Students who graduate from of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies can go on master and doctorate education at the same department.

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES : 
There are three classrooms, 1 computer lab with 61 computers, 1 student computer lab with 41 computers, 1 network lab with 21 computer and related devices, 1 technology class equipped with smart board, document camera, LCD TV and 1 smart class in the department.
