The aim of the course:
The main purpose of this course is to give basic information about fisheries with ecosystem approach, which should be applied to protect the marine ecosystem. Ecosystem Approach Fisheries Management (EYBY) seeks to balance a wide range of societal objectives by taking into account knowledge and uncertainties about the living, non-living and human components of ecosystems and their interactions, and by applying an integrated approach to fisheries within ecologically meaningful limits (FAO, 2003). A prerequisite for a healthy marine ecosystem is to ensure that the potential of the oceans and seas is utilized as much as possible in terms of income and employment. The main purpose of this course is to make a general evaluation by discussing with the students in the light of the available information on the EYBY, which is possible for the Mediterranean and Black Sea.
