The aim of the course:
It is to introduce the factors that affect education throughout Turkish history to the student within the framework of historical events. While doing this, it is aimed to teach students not only Turkish history but also the education systems of other civilizations and states that lived in the period described.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : They will understand the meaning of education and training, the scope and content of the course.
LO - 2 : They will be able to compare the pre-Islamic Turkish education system with the post-Islamic system.
LO - 3 : They will understand the general characteristics of the Ottoman education system.
LO - 4 : They will have information about the changes and innovations in education and training from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic.
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
Understanding the basic concepts and principles of Turkish education history, the shaping of educational institutions and processes since the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic periods, the structural functioning of the Ottoman education system and institutions, and the effects of the changes and reforms on the education system and institutions in the process leading to the Republic constitute the content of the course.
