The aim of the course:
The aim of the course is to teach how local historical dynamics can be examined together with general developments, starting from the Caucasus region.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : They will have information about the geography, history and population structure of the Caucasus.1,2
LO - 2 : They will learn the lifestyles of the local elements of the Caucasus
LO - 3 : They will learn about the changes in the ethnic structure of the region in the 19th and 20th centuries.
LO - 4 : They will analyze the regional strategies of the Great Powers and the strategic place of the Caucasus
LO - 5 : They will understand the changing role of the Caucasus during the Republic of Türkiye
CTPO : Contribution to programme outcomes, TOA :Type of assessment (1: written exam, 2: Oral exam, 3: Homework assignment, 4: Laboratory exercise/exam, 5: Seminar / presentation, 6: Term paper), LO : Learning Outcome

 
Contents of the Course
The course content consists of the political, social and economic relations of the Caucasus region around its relations with the Ottoman Empire (Republic of Turkey) and the Russian Empire (USSR).
