The aim of the course:
The objectives of this course are to place the geographical and historical significance of the Balkan region; to evaluate the Turkish presence in the region with a projection from the past into the future and to interpret the geopolitical and diplomatic priorities of Turkiye with a Balkan perspective.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Comprehend the geographical, historical, economic and political significance of the Balkan region.11,
LO - 2 : Understand the main tenets of the Turkish historical and cultural presence in the Balkans.2,71,
LO - 3 : Evaluate Turkey's Balkan policies and initiatives in historical and diplomatic perspectives.12,131,
LO - 4 : Interpret the effects of the political and cultural issues of the 20th century in the Balkans carried onto the 21st century with a historical perspective.11,

Contents of the Course
The main characteristics of the Balkan geography and history; the geostrategic significance of the Balkans; Turkiye's presence and sphere of influence in the region; the Balkans today and the projections for future concerning the Balkans.
