The aim of the course:
To teach how the National Struggle was carried out under the leadership of Atatürk, the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, the concepts and principles of Atatürk's revolution.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : The students can understand about the basic features, aims of the revolutions and related concepts and their relations each other. 1,21,
LO - 2 : The students can understand why the Ottoman Empire collapsed and grasp the importance of the national movement initiated by Ataturk, comprehend national, historical and cultural importance of this arousal.1,21,
LO - 3 : The students can understand how Independence War was won, with great self-sacrifice, and how the Turkish Republic was founded, and be able to grasp Turkish Revolutions and Ataturk?s principles wholeheartedly.1,21,
LO - 4 : Comprehend the importance of foreign affairs so that they will have the same ideas and ideals and behaviours as Ataturk had, with a consciousness of peace and stabilization with the help of Ataturk?s principles of peace at home, peace in the World.1,21,

Contents of the Course
In this course, are taught the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, the role of Atatürk in the National Struggle, the establishment and modernization of the Turkish Republic, Atatürk's revolutions and principles, Atatürk's life and his system of thought.

 Week 2The reasons of Turkish Revolution and the internal and external reaons of the collapse of the Ottoman State.
 Week 3The causes of World War I, the outset of the war, the involvement of the Ottoman Empire in the war, fronts and their results.
 Week 4National Struggle Period, the condition of the country in face of the occupations, committees and their activities, Ataturk?s arrival in Istanbul and owerview the situation.
 Week 5The landing of Mustafa Kemal to Samsun, his activities in Havza and Amasya announcement, Erzurum Congress and its importance.
 Week 6Congress Period
 Week 7Amasya Negatiations, the meeting held with the commanders in Sivas, the arrival of representative committe, the meetig of the last Ottoman members of parliament the National Pact of 1920.
 Week 8The Structure and features of the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

 Week 10The fronts in the National Struggle and the Mudanya Armistice and the Lausanne Agreements.
