The aim of the course:
In this course, theoretical discussions about historical sociology informed by different intellectual traditions will be evaluated. For this purpose, comparative historical case studies will be carried out both from the Western world and the non-Western world.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :

Contents of the Course
Eclectics of historical sociology; Research strategies in historical sociology; Sociality and temporality; Historical particularity and generalization; The diversity of history; Possibility to explain historical changes systematically and theoretically instead of a historicist approach; Holistic method in comparative historical analysis; Dialogue with historical subjects or rewriting history; European history; Ottoman and Turkish social history.M. Bloch, F. Braudel, K. Polanyi, I, Wallerstein, C. Tilly, P. Anderson, B. Moore and E.P. Emphasis is placed on the historical social analyzes of thinkers such as Thompson.
