The aim of the course:
To be learned the factors effected on the growth and development, the analysis and diagnostic medhods of malocclusion, the changes in transition from the Giving basic principles of normal growth and development, and its relation to orthodontics; evaluating normal occlusion and stomatognatic system; teaching orthodontic anamolies and their etiology.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : explain basic principles of growth and development and growth and development of craniofacial structures.11,
LO - 2 : describe how dental arches and occlusion are developed 11,
LO - 3 : identify different types of malocclusion and classify them based on their etiology.11,
LO - 4 : describe the etiology of malocclusions.11,
LO - 5 : work out the effects of etiologic factors on dentofacial structures.11,
LO - 6 : use basic diagnostic tools and diagnose orthodontic anomalies.11,
LO - 7 : determine cephalometric points and explain basic linear and angular measurements.11,

Contents of the Course
Purposes and limits of orthodontics, basic principles of growth and development, growth and development of craniofacial structures, the relationship of growth and development with orthodontics, development of dental arches and occlusion, stomatognathic system, diagnosis and diagnostic tools in orthodontics, etiology of orthodontic anomalies, orthodontic anomalies in sagittal, vertical and transversal direction, congenital anomalies, diagnosis, anamnesis, and clinical examination in orthodontics, determining cephalometric points.
