The aim of the course:
Focussing on the aspects of two and three-dimensional modelling of structures and providing detail knowledge in statical and dynamic analysis.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : formulate the elements stiffness matrices, determine the global stiffness matrix and solve for the unknown displacements and forces.3,51,3
LO - 2 : understand Finite Element based methods for structural modelling and identify the limitations inherent in structural modelling.3,51,3
LO - 3 : use modern structural analysis software for the numerical modelling and analysis of structural elements, including checking the output.3,51,3

Contents of the Course
Introduction to Matrix Structural Analysis. Introduction to Finite element method. Matematical modelling of two and three dimesional structures. Introducing the general purpose of structural analysis programs such as SAP2000, ETAPS, SAFE, ANSYS. Static and dynamic analysis and design of structures using the package programs.
