The elements, characteristics, and processes of verbal communication will be discussed, including the importance of verbal communication; eye contact, gesturing and body language; structuring a message for effectiveness; clarity and accuracy of speech; use of appropriate language for the context and audience; and use of nonverbal communication to support a verbal message. Topics such as interpersonal communication, as well as public speaking and presentation skills, will also be explored.
