The aim of the course:
Students taking this course are expected to be able to examine the relationship between disasters and social structure and to have knowledge about approaches to both individual and social vulnerabilities and transformations following disasters. It aims to evaluate the social effects of disasters as well as their natural effects. It is aimed to explain the basic concepts of disaster sociology and to transfer the accumulation of knowledge revealed by scientific studies in the relevant field.

Contents of the Course
The content of the course will provide a theoretical perspective for students to conceptualize the social processes leading to the emergence of disasters and the process of seeking solutions to social problems caused by disasters as a whole, with a questioning and sociological attitude. In this context, the course content will include information transfer and discussions on what should be done in times of social crisis related to disasters by establishing a relationship between disasters and the discipline of sociology by giving examples from Turkey and the world.
