The aim of the course:
To teach monitoring techniques or methods used in area and spatial changes in forested ecosystems as well as changes in biodiversity, forest health and carbon storage.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
PO - 1 : display the temporal changes in forest ecosystems in terms of area and volume1,2,113,
PO - 2 : display the spatial changes in forest ecosystems in terms of area and volume1,2,103,
PO - 3 : calculate spatial indices such as number of patches, mean patch size or area weighted mean shape index and use software as Patch Analyst1,2,103,
PO - 4 : use different commands of ArcGIS and functions of Excel in order to display the spatiotemporal changes of forest ecosystems1,2,103,

Contents of the Course
This course aims to provide using techniques to determine changes in forest ecosystems in terms of area, and spatial; monitoring methods based on satellite images; basic approaches used in monitoring changes in carbon storage in forest ecosystems; monitoring biodiversity indexes.
