The aim of the course:
The aim of the course is to reveal the reason for the emergence of the sociology of education, its importance, the relationship between education and social structure and other institutions in this structure.
 
Learning OutcomesCTPOTOA
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Define the basic concept of sociology of education
LO - 2 : Know historical and social basics of education
LO - 3 : Explain the contribution of education to the socialization process
LO - 4 : Analyze the functions and the structures of schools
LO - 5 : Explain the relationship between education and social structure

Contents of the Course
The focus of this course is the definition, subject, characteristics, importance, philosophical and historical foundations of the sociology of education. Theoretical approaches to education and the historical adventure of educational sociology in Turkey will be discussed together with its leading thinkers.
