They will be able to evaluate how social, economic, technologic and politic factors determine the pattern of settlements in different cultures. |

Urbanization, settlement patterns and planning in the West and the East world from ancient times to the industrial revolution and their critical evaluation in relation to cultural entities. - Neolithic settlements in Anatolia: the case of Çatalhöyük , - Urban revolution, the era of cities and kingdoms (Bronze Age) , - The transportation and settlement network in Hittites Anatolia and the capital city Hattuşa, - Antiquity Greek City: Polis and Ionian Cities. - The city in imperial age, Roman Empire- The city in medieval Europe, - Urban planning and design in Renaissance thought, - Enlightenment, industrial revolution and modern city - Urbanization, urban problem and new approach to city during the 19th century. - Early 20th century, modernization, functionalism, CIAM and other developments. |
