The aim of the course:
The evaluation of methods and approaches are aimed when the historical growth of conservation both in our country and also in other countries; inspection of restoration tecniques with the protection kinds and methods on chosen examples; historical construction that have lost their originality are discussed

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : express the concept of protection, the historical growth of the concept of conservation in Turkey and all over the world and the construction of legal and organizational of protection in Turkey131,4

The concept and classification of conservationThe mobile-immobiled cultural presences, naturel presence, the concept of protected/sitThe arising and development of the thought of conservation Legal and organizational aspects of conservation in TurkeyCriterions for conservation The description of criterions for consevationInterferings forms of registered constructions (care, easy restoration, basis restoration) Restoration tecniques (strengthening, completing, replacing, modern supplement, regenerating, clearing) Refunction of buildings that need protection and the factors that affect the selection of functionStudying the examples that are both in our country and in other countriesDesigning the restoration project upon a specific building with given theorical informations

 Week 3Forms of intervention on the buildings which should be preserved. Reuse of historic buildings. The factors determining selection of the new function.
