The aim of the course:
The course aims to teach basic knowledge and method of the facility location, facility layout, facility design, material handling and warehouse operations.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to :
LO - 1 : Learn the information about the general concepts of facilities planning. Select the appropriate facility location.12
LO - 2 : Specify the space and equipment requirements for facilities.6,12
LO - 3 : Design layouts for the departments within a facility using different facility layout method.11
LO - 4 : Understand basic knowledge of the material handling and storage.12
LO - 5 : Make computer-aided facility location and layout.11
LO - 6 : Prepare and present the facility planning project for existing or new facility.11

Contents of the Course
The definition of facility planning, its targets and basic concepts; Facilities location, facilities location selection models and techniques; Systematic layout planning (SLP) and the production flow analysis (PFA); Material handling systems and tools; Layout planning models and design algorithms; Space and equipment requirements for facilities; Computer-aided facility design; The assembly line balancing; Case study for facility planning.
